January 1, 1986 - 2021: 35 years of: Hear 'N Aid.

Move over Lionel ...here comes real trouble. 1985 a year were both pop and rock were on top, and hardrockers were about to get a shot at the stars.

Following the universally successful We Are The World single, written by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson, the rock-community shouted back, with more decibels and rebel-attitude. Members of DIO, TWISTED SISTER, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, DOKKEN, QUIET RIOT and IRON MAIDEN, to name a few, gathered in L.A. and made metal-magic. The song "Stars" is a pounding hardrock anthem, featuring some key-players in the scene, and some worldwide legends too.

Stellar vocal performances by Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford, Geoff Tate, Kevin Dubrow and Dave Meniketti. And the 6-string leads were provided by axemen: Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Craig Goldy, George Lynch and Vivian Campbell.

The rhythm section was handled by drummers Vinny Appice and Frankie Banali with Jimmy Bain on bass-guitar ...while the badboys choir, included: Ted Mutherfocking Nugent, Blackie Lawless, Vince Neil and even England's loudest band: SPINAL TAP's Derek Smalls and David St-Hubbins.

Help for the African famine-crisis and an historical headbanging-event. Round of applause for mastermind Ronnie Dio, one of hardrock's most respected man. Rock for a cause in the glorious 80s ...when music mattered.
