November 1, 1989 - 2024: 35 years of: Fiction Of Veracity.
A new wave: a fatal induction.
Closing the lid on the 80s, Québec's Second Wave Of Thrash-Metal would be an impressive tour-de-force. 1989's DBC's cosmic Universe and VOÏVOD's sub-effect Nothingface LP impressed with progressive prowess. Now a new brutal unit shall add more tempo-changes to the mix ...dwell into OBLIVEON !
Headbanging to the threshold of pain, the serious riff-raff attack of "It Should Have Stayed Unreal" unexpectedly ends with a clean-guitar coda ...we then finally are granted "Access To The Acropolis", a full 4:11sec instrumental gymnastic. The spacey-vibed title-track for "Fiction Of Veracity" breaks the mold with it's off-set patterns and acoustic mid-part, while the rolling on tomb-stones speed of "Droïdomized" prepares humanity for the eventual half-man / half-machine hybrid of future generations.
Very young and fully progressive thrashmetal ...OBLIVEON doesn't disappoint.
After 1987's Demo #2 AKA Whimsical Uproar demo, fanzines and penpals around the globe were anxious for more extremes. Recruiting new drummer Alain Demers and adding second guitar-player Pierre Rémillard, this upgraded sombre phase produced more aggressive-thrash while still tip-toeing with deathmetal ...a mission of true dire consequences.
Still self-released, this time with full-color-jacket and pro-cassette duplication, Fiction Of Veracity rapidly became a hot item in the underground. The material is currently reissued on all three major-formats in order to quench the die-hards and cut-short the second-hand market.
Soon inked with England's indie Active Records, the band would expend their twisted into form ways deeper into the cybervoid with 1990's ill-fated now cult-classic From This Day Forward CD.

12 Avril 1993 - 2023: 30 ans de: Nemesis.
Ok là on pèse sul gaz !

August 30, 1999 - 2024: 25 years of: Carnivore Mothermouth.
Precise as clockwork.
The late 90s, a lost generation of 80s thrashers trying to find a grip on this neo reality. Head towards streetmetal, tame to arenametal or fully embrace new digital-technologies ? Quebec's OBLIVEON have been challenging the status-quo since 1990 and by 1995's DNS attack Cybervoid CD, the binary floodgates had been opened eons into the future: Cyber-Metal is here.
Demanufacturing metal to the core, as the black hole of the "Technocarnivore Mothermouth" swallows this helpless scene into oblivion. The industrial flair slices straight to the bone on "Devil In My Eyes" and the spatial pulse-riffle power-punch of "Glass Made Of Flesh" ...a posh assault on the senses.
Modern blunt force explodes on "Love, Die, Resurrect" and the equivalently none so vile "Such A Quiet River". Fine futurist production with deep structures are super-charged on "Polarity" and on the live-current adventure of "Fatal Induction". A gem is found on the architectural grand French finalé of "Désert Incorporel" ...some of the highest quality of alloys available from these new extremes.
Destroy / Erase / Improve.
From this day forward, OBLIVEON were kings in a niche of their own. Not thrashmetal nor deathmetal, but pushing this factory of fear with rich tones and simple / complex metallic exhibitions. Pre-Y2K gear talk: that wild fat synthetic-tone was achieved by fuelling 7-strings into state-of-the-art Line 6 Amplification. Thanks for the hint Mister Cazares.
In 2000, for the FlashBack compilation-CD, the band broke another barrier of sound by covering 1978's Goldorak theme-song. From kid's cartoon-soundtrack, to brutal headbanging perfection, this is a true whimsical uproar:

Following a low commercial-return, the band would silently dissolve in 2002, only making a handful of live-appearances in the new millennium. At press-time, the nemeses are finalizing the fine-details for a complete new full-length CD, scheduled for 2025.
OBLIVEON AWAITS !
