Still hot from 1969's Season Three of Mission: Impossible, from secret agents to cosmos scientists, real life couple Martin Landau and Barbara Bain now Apollo 11 themselves ...into an infinite space odyssey.

On September 13, 1999, everything changed for Moonbase Alpha's 300+ inhabitants. A massive nuclear-explosion sends the Moon off it's Earth-bound orbital-gravitation ...breaking away from the Solar System. Now forever doomed from humankind, the humongous traveling mass frolics through the universe and eventually creates some interesting meetings.

From the minds of Thunderbirds British producers Gerry & Sylvia Anderson and hatched from the UFO Serie left-overs, the ultra edgy Space: 1999 used all the available top mid 70s cinema technology to paint the fantasy frame-set of actual lunar living-conditions. Following the Space Race, from 1975 to 1977's sci-fi craze, both Space 1999 Seasons reimagined life from beyond and all of it's imaginary beings ...all this madness before the release of Star Wars.

From thrilling to apocalyptic, yet most often philosophical, this dark themed TV-show is a complete 90° from the then galaxy galore extravaganzas. Extra points for it's dramatically-hip theme-song, constructed on classical / jazz / disco mojo. Sadly, because of UK / US creative-tensions, left lost in blackness, there would not be a Third Season.
