June 6, 1976 - 2021: 45 years of: The Omen.

Born June 6 at 6am ...he is the anti-Christ !

Time to shake the establishment to it's very core: Catholicism. In the tumultuous 1970s, when the boomers were partying and ruling the counterculture, some topics weren't meant to be shook.

The unholy-horror started with 1973's The Exorcist, but now, the birth of a boy from a faceless / nameless mother is about to take over this puritan world. Exchanged at birth after a miscarriage, the unknown child starts to spread fear and generates weird apparitions around him. Warned by a local priest, his father tries to find the truth about the boy's real origins, only to find himself face to face with death and cataclysm.

The boy bears the 666 mark on his skin, the number of the beast. The serie would continue and spawn several sequels, as the teen grows into an influential young man. Hail Damien !

The mid 70s, an era of deadly classic cinematic horror: 74's brutal Texas Chainsaw Massacre, 75's mouth-dropping Jaws and 78's clowned murder-spree Halloween. Not to say that these years were horrific is an under-statement.

Culturally these movies also re-enforced the need for edgier entertainment and stronger emotional highs ...hence the 70s rise of heavyrock and eventually actual heavymetal. It all makes sense.
