June 6, 1976 - 2026: 50 years of: The Omen.

Born June 6 at 6am: he is ...the Antichrist.

Time to shake the establishment to it's very core: Catholicism. During the tumultuous 70s, when boomers were partying hard and ruling the counterculture, some topics weren't meant to be shook. A prophetic takeover, a divine mission, a brutal assault: The Omen.

Hail Satan !

The unholy horror started with 1973's The Exorcist, but now, the birth of a boy from a faceless / nameless mother is about to burn this puritan world. Exchanged at birth, the child starts to spread fear and generate influence. Warned by a Priest, his adoptive father tries to find the truth about the boy's origins, only to find himself face to face with cataclysm and death. The young boy bears the 666 mark on his skin ...the number of the beast.

Hail Damien !

The mid 70s, an era of deadly classic cinematic horrors: 1974's brutal Chainsaw Massacre, 75's mouth-dropping Jaws and 78's Halloween murder-spree. Not to say that these years were horrific is an under-statement. Culturally edgier entertainment, built for stronger emotional highs.

The Book Of Revelation was right.

Two recent flicks adds more units to the bodycount. The Omen 2006's remake is a pale vision of the '76 icon, but the 2024 prequel in The First Omen, makes an interesting case and re-ignites the ever burning flame.

"Look at me Damien ...it's all for you." The decades long serie would spawn several sequels, as the teen grows into an influential young man. 1978 would see his evolution into the macabre in: Damien - Omen II.
