September 17, 1984 - 2024: 40 years of: The Transformers.

Hasbro creates solid-gold.

A year following the launch of the modern G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero TV-serie, another conquest would arise ...from beyond. Propelling both cartoon and sci-fi hypes, the 80s are about to get transported into oblivion.

A century old war between the Autobots and Decepticons, raged on metal-planet Cybertron. Running low on energy, they exile in search for a new hope. Still in-fighting in deep space, both clan ends up on Earth, some four million years B.C. In current time, the Autobots befriend with the humans, protecting them against the evil Decepticons, led by the maniacal Megatron, vowing to build the ultimate weapon, defeat the Autobots and rule the galaxy.

From the Japanese minds of Takara Company, this worldwide cornucopia of toys, TV-anime and eventual tide-changing Summer 1986's Transformers: The Movie, conquered many facets of the kids-branded modus-operandi. Nothing screams classic 80s kid Christmas more then some G.I. Joes and Transformers wrapped under the three.

Coming from the euphoric post Star Wars era, right into terms like: Space Bridge, Energon Cube and "Starscream you fool !" ...some of these quotes have even crossed-over into pop-culture. In 1985, the toy-line would expand with both nefarious Insecticons and Constructicons, along with the fan-favorite counterpart: the Dinobots.

Yet for connoisseurs of the early days, Season 1 & 2 remains their beloved era, as Season 3 post-movie, would incorporate many new characters, that ended up being too remote from the initial plot. The post 1986 epoch would also suffer from market-share changes within American consumerism, courtesy of the hottest new item in town: the Nintendo.
