Thrashmetal's swansong, Part I.

A new decade is upon us. Almost on top of the world, still close behind hardrock, it was now time for thrashmetal to taste the arenas. Moshing Europe into a pulp, this pit was a brutal session.

Co-headlining and leading the way with their pristine metal, SLAYER and MEGADETH presented material from their soon-to-be released Seasons In The Abyss and Rust In Peace CDs, respectively. Tagging along Bay-Area heavyweights TESTAMENT and the cool L.A. punks of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, this caravan is the one-stop shop. This breed of thrashmetal was on top and finally getting some commercial appeal. A fine collection, setting high hopes for the 90s.

Another type of war.

While the Persian Gulf was under attack, Western Europe metalheads got the full assault. The second air-strike, on the American front in Spring 1991, featuring an odd-ball guest ...shall inadvertently close the lid on thrashmetal's dominance. All of this mosh-madness, mere months before the ultimate gamechanger: METALLICA's black Godzilla.
