August 12-13, 1989 - 2024: 35 years of: Moscow Music Peace Festival.

Kick out the jams, Muscovites !

After 1983's US Festival, the wild 80s ruled from dusk to dawn, as Sunset Strip rolled all over the World. Well almost all over, as the U.S.S.R. still hadn't allowed Western rocknroll to penetrate the Iron Curtain ...until now. During the fall of Communism, the cracks in the wall were visible, so much that the inevitable happened: headbanging in the Red Square.

Following a drug-related plead-deal, rock-manager Doc McGhee planed a mega concert in the Eastern Bloc. Bringing along the best of his roster, this motley crew flew to Moscow for a two-day Woodstock-type hard rocknroll party, for 100000+ rabid rock-hungry raging Russians.

Heating the Cold War into hot action, this psycho circus fireworks included performances by:
    - SKID ROW, the hottest new kids on the block.
    - CINDERELLA, bluesy-hardrock's slickest asset.
    - and BON JOVI, the cuttest New-Jersey blue-collar FM rockers.
and on the second night:
    - MÖTLEY CRÜE, in their new dope-free mindset, days before releasing their Dr. Feelgood LP.
    - GORKY PARK, a Soviet hardrock band with cool hooks and East Slavic lyrics.
    - Ozzy Osbourne, featuring his new sniper: Zakk Wylde ...and Geezer Butler on bass ...50% of BLACK SABBATH.
    - and SCORPIONS, the legendary German arenarock giants.
After decades of suspicions and paranoia, the West and East finally united under the banner of rocknroll. Through the Make A Difference Foundation, the message was to set awareness about drug-abuse in teens, Yet not sure how the "peace" factor in "Peace Festival" was achieved, but the seeds of prime American rock-rebellion was definitely set.

The Moscow Music Peace Festival unknowignly coronated the end of the glorious 80s and also the end of hardrock's global-domination. A wind of change, as the actual Berlin Wall would be demolished on November 9, 1989 and by 1990, new rock-acts incorporated new sounds and sent hardmusic into a new void, merely a year before Autumn 91s Seattle effect. A double changing of the guards.

The electrified hardrock element would rock Russian soil again in September 1991, with: AC/DC, METALLICA, THE BLACK CROWES and the Cowboys from hell of PANTERA.
